Chick Flicks

I just finished watching Leap Year. It was an awesome movie. 1. Because I like Matthew Goode. 2. Because it was filmed in Ireland. & 3. Because two people fall in love. But movies like that are bittersweet. For us girls, they make us feel romantic… like anything is possible. Then after the movie is over, reality sinks in and we all too quickly realize that the probability of having our own chick-flick romance is slim to none. These film producers are genius. They show us what we all want. They show us the best part about love - falling into it. What they fail to show you is what comes after the first kiss or after the bride walks down the aisle. I’ve been in a relationship for five years and I can tell you that the romance doesn’t last for long. That feeling of falling goes away real fast and we get comfortable… too comfortable. You don’t think you need the “just because” flowers or the fancy dinners. But ladies, you do. You need them more that you even realize. Relationships require so much work. It would be nice if they would just work out their own problems… but they don’t. You’ll need romance your entire life. Gents - please remember that. Us ladies… don’t like to ask for it. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose if we do?
