The Giving of the Law.

Through out Exodus 20 through 24, the law is given, broken, and restored. Until now, God has filled Israel with grace and mercy. Psalm 19:7 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect.” Only one man has ever been able to perfectly keep it and pay for all the others who broke it - Jesus. The law doesn’t make us sin, but it show us that we are sinners. It shows us how to live successfully. We can’t just break one or two laws and still be perfect. It’s all or nothing. Only one flaw can destroy perfection. We start out thinking we can please God and end up crying for his mercy. So god gave himself to us… to pay for our imperfections.

  • Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28-29

Remember that post where I talked about how God reveals the coming of our savior throughout the Old Testament? Well we can see it here as well. Do you really think God gave us all these laws and expected us to follow them? I mean of course he did… but Adam and Eve couldn’t even keep their fingers off of a piece of fruit! God knew he would have to send his son to save us from the depths of our sin. He gave us these rules a head of time so we would know how far we have fallen… only to have to pick us right back up. How awesome is he!?

Godspeed.
